​Das von Walter Gropius entwickelte Baukasten-System für Häuser ermöglichte durch seine vielfältigen Kombinationsmöglichkeiten die Anpassung an unterschiedliche Bedürfnisse. Die Adaption von Martha Burkhardt dagegen zielt nicht auf das fertige Produkt, sondern lädt ein zum Finden eigener, nicht zwangsläufig absichtsvoller Gefüge. Den haptischen Anreiz schafft ein Materialkontrast aus Birnbaumholz und Plexiglas.

The modular system for houses developed by Walter Gropius made it possible to adapt to different needs through its many possible combinations. Martha Burkhardt's adaptation, on the other hand, does not aim at the finished product, but invites to find one's own, not necessarily intentional, structures.
